I am a senior biology major & cognitive neuroscience minor at Clarkson University with plans to attend a 28-month physician assistant program afterward. Clubs I am involved in on campus include Dance Team, Dance Ensemble, Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, & Psi Chi Psychology Honor Society. Performs the function of a Patient Care Assistant in carrying out all assignments by the Registered Nurse in charge of the unit. Is accountable for all patient care he/she is assigned to during a given shift. Is responsible for adhering to all Standards of Nursing Care and for promoting teamwork among co-workers. Is responsible for the care of patients from birth through the dying process. They interact with all kinds of people in the healthcare setting (including families and visitors) and they assist nurses and patients in basic functions such as comfort, elimination, exercise, hygiene, nutrition, safety, and vital signs. They also support the emotional needs of patients and their families.
Tutor first year biology students and assist a graduate in teaching the freshman biology laboratory.
Responsible for promoting teamwork with all members of health care team; responsible for organization of nurses' station; performing clerical and receptionist duties; requisitioning of supplies, equipment and services from other departments. Observes all elements of patient's rights and maintains patient confidentiality. Performs functions of monitor technician in carrying out all tasks/assignments monitored by RN/Charge Nurse. Accountable for all monitoring related tasks performed during shift. Maintains equipment and supplies with direction from Charge Nurse/RN. Willingness to work under close supervision.
